Wireless Mouse Moving Really Slowly, Erratically Suddenly

As a technology and marketing consulting company we don’t blog about hardware very much– though we do have excellent, economical office hardware.. maybe an idea for a post.

Anyhow, I ran into this issue today with my wireless mouse while doing a really important and resource heavy task (manipulating a 1.5GB data file) so immediately thought it was computer related and not mouse related.

But the issue persisted after I did the following:

  • Changed AA battery (yours may be AAA)
  • Restarted Computer
  • Switched dongle USB Ports
  • Reinstalled Driver
  • Moved cell phone and other potentially interfering electronic devices around like a mental patient

Then finally I went back to my youth, playing the original Nintendo Entertainment System and did the most important thing necessary to fix hardware:

I blew into it and whatever was in there became dislodged and it worked like new again.

Sometimes the fix is the same thing we knew when we were nine years old, hunched over a blinking NES, praying Mario would just load.

Just blow on it. Clear out the crud. Clean it out and get going again.

I think this applies to a lot of problems, tech or otherwise.
