Most of what we do at Foxco is the long-game stuff -- building sites, custom plugins, store operations, and the ongoing work that keeps a business running online month after month. That kind of work deserves a real onboarding process, and ours is pretty simple as these things go. We get to know the business, scope the work, agree on terms, get access sorted out, and then get started.
The problem is that every so often somebody emails us with a WordPress site that's throwing an error, and the actual fix is maybe an hour of work, sometimes less. Running that person through the same onboarding we'd use for a six-month build is like making someone fill out a mortgage application to borrow a ladder. The process isn't bad, it's just built for a different job, and by the time we've gotten through it the customer has spent more time on paperwork than we'll spend on the fix.
Most WordPress emergencies take about thirty minutes to fix and about a day to find someone willing to fix them. We've watched that play out from both sides for a long time, and neither side comes out ahead. The customer loses a day of sales while their site is down, and we lose a chunk of our day on intake for a job that would've been finished before the intake was.
Foxco is a small shop -- a microagency, if you want to be generous about it -- but even a small agency is still an agency, with the overhead and process that comes with one. You don't need all of that sent after a plugin conflict or a white screen after an update. You need somebody who knows WordPress to look at it, fix it, and tell you what happened.
FixWP is the answer we landed on. It's a separate service that does exactly one thing, which is fix WordPress problems, and it's set up as a ticket system rather than a client relationship.
You pick roughly how big the problem is, from a Quick Fix for the small stuff up to a Big Fix for a site that's badly broken. If the job turns out larger or smaller than your guess, the price adjusts, and if you decide not to go ahead, you get your money back. Then you send access, we fix the problem, and the ticket closes. There's no discovery call, no proposal, and no retainer, because none of those things help anybody when the checkout page is down on a Friday afternoon.
Access is the part people are understandably careful about, and they should be. The same rules we've always followed at Foxco apply at FixWP -- we fix what's broken, we don't go poking around in things that aren't part of the job, and whatever we see on your site stays between us.
For the person with the broken site, it's faster and the price is known up front. For us, it means we can handle the quick jobs in a system built for quick jobs, and keep our client onboarding for the clients who need it. Nobody has to pretend a thirty-minute fix is the start of a long-term partnership.
It also gave us a place to put something we'd wanted to build for a while, which is a free library of the most common WordPress problems and how to fix them. A lot of these are things a site owner can handle on their own with clear instructions, and we'd honestly rather people do that when they can. If the article gets you there, great. If it doesn't, the ticket button is right next to it.
Foxco hasn't changed. If you need a website or app built, a store run, ads managed, a custom plugin written, or a long-term partner for your web operations, that's still what we do and we'd be happy to hear from you.
If your WordPress site is broken right now and you just need it working again, skip the onboarding and head to FixWP.site
